v2.3: On Exotic Ingredients and A Few Other Changes
Hiya everybody!
Was browsing Tabletop twitter as you do and saw an interesting discussion around the use of "Exotic" as a not great term in gaming (e.g. exotic loot drops and the like) as it implies a certain sense of non-native things being weird or other. While I was definitely leaning more towards Exotic as in Exotic Loot Drops when deciding on the name for Exotic Ingredients I can 100% see the issue with the name. So instead I've changed it to "Secret Ingredient" which honestly on the whole is just a better name because it both ties into No Stone Unturned (renamed from 'Frontier Gastronomy' for similar reasons) leaving the effect of a foraged ingredient unknown, and is also kind of a pun which I always enjoy.
Other changes include:
- A rework of A Taste for Violence and From Harm to Table so they are easier to trigger. From Harm To Table is now much more advantageous as it is quite hard to trigger and delays you getting the other moves.
- Added the staple meal effect:
"comforting: Anybody who eats this meal will feel more positively about you (even if they do not show it)"
- Inspired by somebody telling me about how they used the Cook playbook with the The Merchant playbook to play as an innkeeper, I've added the Master Move:
"Cook, Serve, Delicious!
Add:
“Fast: Somebody will pay a reasonable price you agree on to have this meal”
to your staple effects list, and add:
“luxurious: Somebody will pay a high price you agree on to have this meal”
to your gourmet meal effects list"
- Clearer wording on a few moves
That's everything for now. Chugging away on a few related projects but they're slow going due to my final year of uni.
As always, 🍛Happy Cooking!🍛
